Pranayama is among the 5 principles of Yoga and it is a breathing exercise helping to revitalize mind and the body. Pranayama promotes proper breathing bringing more oxygen to the brain & the blood. Proper breathing exercise also helps in prevention of many major diseases. Proper breathing is necessary as it enables us to get rid of toxins & waste products present in human body.

The need for Pranayama arises as our breathing is too shallow & quick. To stay healthy we need to breathe deeply & slowly inhaling oxygen and releasing waste products.

What Is Pranayama?


Pranayama refers to control of breath. It is a breathing exercise and very widely practiced in Yoga. With pranayama, it is possible to control the rhythms of pranic energy and achieve healthy mind & body. Pranayama helps in proper breathing which enables to bring more oxygen to the brain, and to control Prana or the vital life energy. Pranayama is practiced along with Asanas.
